Chandigarh
As a routine job of reading and self satisfaction, I signed the register in CSIO library and sat on first floor for casual reading. Thinking about the "FUZZY LOGIC and the CRISP LOGIC". The theory was proposed by LOTFI ZADEH which helped further in control theory, artificial intelligence, etc. It was 11:30 am after tea break when Librarian came and offered me water. I said, “Oh madam thanks. I understand library rules- I will definitely not sleep here”. She laughed and took the jug with the left hand and few papers with the right and moved to wake up another reader. Well, I kept on fighting with some binary irregularities and 3D formations of various figures and hypothetical x, y and z planes. With a frenetic movement of my cerebral part I discovered that Fuzzy Logics can be implemented to measure the table's circumference, the jug's size which Librarian was holding and the food which I have taken last night with its mass irrespective of my full body weight……and few neurons suggested - man you too can calibrate earthquakes, floods and the Tsunami……!!!!!!
Thinking next about how to calibrate above plans by this concept which is really pathetic thought to discover, I saw the giant shelf which is on my left side was proceeding towards me and stopped. I was horrified, petrified and almost terrified when a little sound again at the left side of my table came and a lizard jumped from the top of the shelf where some IEEE journals were placed. I checked it was a baby lizard, black kid of yellow-grey lizard mummy. I came forward and said “hello” to the young gentleman and started struggling with fuzzy logics again. But this time I was thinking like a researcher that whether it is really possible to measure earthquakes by these logics explained by LOTFI ZADEH in 1965? “No, you are wrong”…convincing my internal Einstein I thought - let me read some another book like environmental sciences and suddenly the glasses of the almirah with some books on CSIO-CSIR scientists were kept started shouting like they were saying “Yes, veer you are right - it is possible to calibrate
earthquake and volcanic eruptions using these logics
”.
I was shocked when the chair, table and papers I was using were shivering like they were under hypothermia and I was too feeling unstable. I stood up and hurriedly checked the baby lizard it was residing very calm. Learning the concept from baby lizard I calmly went downstairs to the ground floor and saw a boy was reading a handbook for mechanical technicians. I asked “Did you feel any tremors??? I mean an EARTHQUAKE???” He shook his head in a rocky and jerky way then burst out loudly and said “hey do you see an elephant in dream last night fighting with you???” Well, I kept my calm again and went to the baby lizard, it was still there, calm and this time fearful, it was too feeling absurd like me about our surroundings and their movements. I came back home thinking what a poor philosopher am I investigating the nature, causes, or principles of reality. The Metaphysicist in me feeling “earthquakes in the sky”...
In the night after dinner I checked the internet and read the following news - Earthquake In Delhi 20 June, 2011– Mild tremors were felt in parts of North India including New Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Monday at 11:57 am. The epicenter of the earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale, was Chamoli region. I was thinking if one introduces the concept of energy of an earthquake then that is a theoretically derived quantity. Fuzzy Logics you rock! I was not able to express myself about tremor in the Library but I felt Planet Earth first time so closely and I am a part of it. I am sure my small friend, (I hope it was fine) the baby lizard too felt that and those books which I left at the table too. In all, I was impressed by the magnitude of the earthquake, little bit on the senses of a Metaphysicist in me and its “CEREBRAL FUZZY LOGIC SYSTEMS.”
Planet Earth please do turn slowly.
